My girlfriend and I are going to be driving from Maseru, Lesotho, to Mboyti River Lodge in the Transkie. Google maps suggests taking the A5 to the A4 and crossing the boarder at Qachas Nek. Has anyone done this route recently? What is the route like, both in terms of safety and road quality?
The alternative is to go around the west side of Lesotho but that's an extra 200km. I would prefer to go through Lesotho if it's a good option, partly because it's shorter but also to see the county. We will be driving a Suzuki Jimny.
Please share any thoughts or ideas.
Thanks very much,
